Stage 3 Salas - Tineo

Updated: Aug 7, 2021

Stage 3 happens to be the short one. I made it from Salas to Tineo. It’s 18 km (11.5 miles). It was short but steep and rocky. Also it was much cooler today compare to yesterday. Feels like home in PNW!

I booked a hotel early and its address says it’s in Tineo but actually it was 14 km away… so I screwed up. I was going to walk there, but 14 more km would completely kill my feet, and tomorrow is supposed to be the hardest hike through the pass…

So I decided to take a taxi to the hotel and have the rest of the day just relaxing. Tineo

Another screwing up today is I lost my walking sticks, probably left them in a taxI 😒

Well… not everything is going as planned. To be exact, I didn’t plan well. I can’t find any place to stay at my next stage for tomorrow, so I had to book a second night here at Casa Herminia, will be my rest day, and will do more research for the next stage. It seems more hikers here than I’ve seen before. Motorcycles, bikes… Looks like there are people who just came to hike Sierra de Tineo and Hospitales. They aren’t pilgrims.

But… everything that didn’t happen, happened for the best. Weather doesn’t look great in mountains and I was able to enjoy traditional gastronomy of the Asturias West! Mussels and homemade wine 😋 made by the owner - they don’t even have a label on the bottle!

Family owned business in a small mountains village! Food is awesome! Hotel is great too! I look a little too happy there after a homemade wine 🤪🙃

This is pilgrims meal, usually three course meal, cost just 12€… a lot of food and drinks included. But way too much food for me, must be for a truly pilgrims, I’m not there yet 😉☺️
